We made a short visit to the farm in early August. The previous owners will be staying on awhile and taking care of the place. We have plans to visit at least once more this year. It’s hard to wait, but we have lots of time to make home and garden plans.
On our August visit as we turned into the road to the house we were welcomed by the newest residents, a family of turkeys. The hen and poults (chicks) were meandering along the road until they saw us, and then there was a panic to get back to the safety of the high grass where
the tom was hiding. (One year edit–that is a female, not a male. I think there must have been turkeys here before, because they are all over the countryside). This is the first year they’ve been seen on the farm, and we hope to see more of them in the future.
